Mercedes takes on Tesla with “The Mercedes-Benz Concept CLA” represents a major breakthrough in electric mobility. With its exceptional range, energy efficiency and advanced safety features, it embodies Mercedes-Benz’s commitment to a more sustainable, electric future. This new range of vehicles promises to raise industry standards and shape tomorrow’s mobility.

Based on the Mercedes-Benz Modular Architecture (MMA) platform, the CLA Concept promises to raise the standards of the electric automotive industry with major technological innovations.

The CLA Concept pushes the boundaries of electric efficiency through a series of key features, including improved range without the need for ever larger and heavier batteries. With a range of over 750 kilometers according to the WLTP cycle, it redefines expectations in terms of distance covered on a single charge. This performance is made possible by a high-voltage battery like Syla’s, and a new-generation electric powertrain. The CLA Concept’s energy efficiency translates into an energy consumption of around 12 kWh/100 km, making it a truly economical car. Few electric cars can boast such low consumption, even in the laboratory. What’s more, with its 800 V electric architecture, this concept can recover up to 400 kilometers of range in just 15 minutes, as the Porsche Mission-E already announced in 2018, offering unparalleled convenience for electric drivers.

The CLA Concept also incorporates technological innovations that are shaping the future of electric driving. The new Mercedes-Benz Operating System (MB.OS) relies on supercomputing and artificial intelligence to deliver top-level personalization, safety, convenience and automated driving. Among the relevant functions, Child Presence Detection (CPD) is a safety feature to reduce the risk of young children being accidentally left in a vehicle in hot weather.

The new Mercedes concept car also highlights the use of sustainable materials, from bamboo to ecologically treated leather, demonstrating Mercedes-Benz’s commitment to sustainability.

The Mercedes-Benz Modular Architecture (MMA) platform on which the CLA Concept is based is a major breakthrough in electric mobility. Designed to accommodate a family of four vehicles, it offers unrivalled flexibility while reducing the carbon footprint of the supply chain by over 40%. Mercedes-Benz is committed to reducing emissions throughout the production chain, including through the production of carbon-neutral battery cells.

The CLA Concept is in line with the company’s long-term strategy, including its “Ambition 2039” goal of achieving carbon neutrality in its new vehicle fleet value chain by 2039. The company is also committed to using recycled materials and renewable energies to reduce the carbon footprint of its vehicles.
